Memory: No Display at Startup Due to Poor Memory Contact
1. Check whether the memory module's gold fingers are dirty; remove the module and wipe them with an eraser;
2. Check the memory slot and its retaining clips for dust or abnormalities. For laptop memory, try removing and reinserting it several times, rocking it gently up and down before pressing it down until it locks into place.
[Note: If the memory slot has poor contact, with the power unplugged, use a dedicated anti-static brush (or, if unavailable, a clean, dry old toothbrush; note: the toothbrush must not be wet) dipped in anhydrous alcohol to gently brush the memory slot. After brushing, let it air-dry (or dry it with a hair dryer) before inserting the memory and powering on.]
